Curated by the club’s Chairman of the Board, Tim Newton, this invitational show is one of the crowning jewels of the year. At one of the oldest art club’s in America, the show will be in the newly remodeled exhibition space on the main floor of the building.

Oil Painters of America 2016 Juried Salon Show

OPA’s 2016 Juried Salon Show is being hosted by Castle Gallery Fine Art, offering 10,000 square feet of gallery space, located in Indiana’s second largest city, Fort Wayne. The Salon Show will take place from September 30 through October 29, 2016.Known as “The City of Attractions” Fort Wayne boasts having 11 museums and historic sites within walking distance in the downtown area, including the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. If not the museums,visitors will find of interest the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory with its colorful seasonal gardens; the impressive headquarters of Sweetwater Sound, the world’s leading music technology and instrument retailer;Vera Bradley one of the trendsetters in women’s luggage, handbags, and fashion accessories, and the DeBrand Fine Chocolate Factory where visitors can tour the corporate headquarters and sample some of their tasty chocolates. The Castle Gallery Fine Art building was constructed as a private home in 1905 of granite boulders in the Richardson Romanesque style and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Castle Gallery Fine Art is hosting an opening reception on Friday, September 30, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the awards presentation at 8:00 p.m.Our Goal is to assemble the finest display of approximately 275 representational oil paintings. The focus in the jurying process will be to select paintings that show the highest quality in draftsmanship, color, and composition, emphasizing a diversity in representational style and subject matter.The total awards will be a minimum of $12,000 in cash and/or merchandise.The awarding juror will be a nationally renowned OPA Signature or Master Signature Member.Eligible states and provinces include: all paid members residing in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Artists must be either 2016 OPA paid members or have submitted an application for membership for 2016 to be eli- gible to submit an entry in this exhibition. Artists whose residency is in question must provide OPA with documentation certifying legal residency. See Bylaws Article II K on-line for definition of residency requirements.
